Privacy Policy

Your file.
Your privacy.

Three systems touch your matter. Here is exactly how each one handles it.

Libre Litigation Inc. uses MyCase to hold the case file, Anthropic's Claude for attorney-directed research and drafting, and SeeB AI to answer calls and texts after hours. This page explains what each receives, how long we keep it, and how to tell us to stop.

Effective October 27, 2026

Where Your Information Goes

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for advertising. Nothing is sent to an AI tool that the assigned attorney has not selected.

1 · Scope

Who this policy covers

This page is the firm's privacy policy. It sits alongside the AI Disclosure, which explains the tools in more detail, and the Disclaimer, which covers the terms of using this website.

This policy applies to librelitigation.com, to the client portal at libre-litigation-inc.mycase.com, and to the firm's telephone and text lines. It covers information about clients, prospective clients, family members who contact us on a client's behalf, and visitors to this website.

It does not cover what a court, a prosecutor, a sheriff's office, or another law firm does with information it holds. Those bodies have their own rules. It also does not change the confidentiality duties an attorney already owes a client under the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct and their equivalents in Arizona and North Carolina.

Attorney-client privilege is not affected by anything described on this page. Where this policy and a court order disagree, the court order controls.

2 · Collection

What we collect, and what we do not

We collect what a legal matter actually requires. We do not ask for Social Security numbers, medical records, or financial account numbers through this website.

Information you give us

  • Name, phone number, email, and mailing address
  • The facts of your matter and any documents you send
  • Court, case, and inmate identification numbers
  • Payment details needed to bill a file (card numbers are entered at LawPay, not here)

Information created automatically

  • Pages viewed on this website and the referring page
  • Browser type, device type, and approximate location from your IP address
  • Date and time of a form submission or portal sign-in

Information from calls and texts

  • The number that called or texted a firm line and when
  • The message content and any name left with it
  • A recording or transcript only where a caller is told one is being made

3 · Purpose

Why we hold it

Every use below is tied to a legal matter, a contract with you, or a duty the law puts on a law firm. Nothing is used for advertising, and no client list is sold.

  • 01Reviewing a case, preparing a filing, and communicating with you about it
  • 02Scheduling consultations and sending appointment reminders
  • 03Billing, invoicing, and processing payments through LawPay
  • 04Answering calls and texts that arrive outside business hours
  • 05Operating and securing this website and the client portal
  • 06Meeting bar, court, and tax recordkeeping obligations

4 · Service Providers

Every vendor, and what it sees

A vendor receives only the minimum needed for its job. Each is bound by its own confidentiality and security commitments, and none is permitted to use firm data for its own marketing.

MyCase

Case management & client portal

Your matter file: contact details, case notes, documents, messages, calendar entries, and billing records.

Role-based staff access, encrypted storage, audit history. This is the firm's system of record.

Claude (Anthropic)

AI research & drafting assistant

Only the portion of a record, transcript, or question an attorney is working on at that moment.

Claude Enterprise workspace under commercial terms: case data is not used to train models, encrypted in transit and at rest.

SeeB AI

AI answering service

The name, number, and message content of a caller or texter, plus basic call metadata.

Intake and message routing only. No legal advice and no case strategy. Messages are delivered to firm staff as inquiries.

LawPay

Payment processing

Name, contact details, invoice amount, and the card or bank details you enter on their page.

PCI-DSS compliant processor. Card numbers are never stored on firm systems or sent to any AI tool.

Acuity Scheduling

Consultation booking

Name, email, phone, and the appointment slot you select.

Booking data is used to confirm and remind you of the appointment. No case documents are uploaded there.

Website, email & hosting

Infrastructure

Form submissions, page requests, and the contents of email you send to the firm.

Encrypted transport, access limited to firm personnel and the vendors that maintain the site.

What We Never Do

We do not sell personal information. We do not rent a client list. We do not send your file to an AI tool that an attorney has not chosen for a specific task, and we do not let a vendor use your case data to train a model.

5 · MyCase

The case file lives in one place

MyCase is the firm's case management platform and the system of record. Your contact details, documents, messages, deadlines, and billing entries are stored there, and the client portal you sign into is MyCase.

Access is role-based: staff see the matters they are assigned, and every view and download is logged. Messages you send through the portal stay in the file rather than in a personal inbox.

MyCase's own AI features operate only on the matter they are opened in. They help organize and summarize a file; they do not make decisions about your case.

6 · Claude

AI research, under attorney direction

Claude is Anthropic's AI model, used through the firm's Claude Enterprise workspace. An attorney selects what to send: a transcript excerpt, a research question, a portion of a record. The whole file is not uploaded, and a question is not answered by handing over a client's identifying details.

Under our commercial terms, Anthropic does not train its models on firm data. Conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is limited to firm personnel working on the matter.

Claude produces drafts. It does not file, sign, advise you, or decide strategy. Every citation is pulled and read and every factual assertion is checked against the record before anything is filed.

You can keep AI tools off your matter entirely. The process is on the AI Disclosure page, and it costs nothing.

7 · SeeB AI

Who answered when you called

SeeB AI answers calls and texts to the firm's lines when no one is at a desk. It greets the caller, collects a name, a number, and a short description of the matter, and passes the message to firm staff, who respond the next business day.

It is an intake and messaging tool. It does not give legal advice, does not discuss case strategy, and does not quote fees. Call metadata, the number used, and the message content are retained as part of the firm's inquiry records.

You are never required to speak with it. Call a state office during business hours and you reach a person, or use the contact form and your message goes straight to the firm.

8 · Your Choice

Turning AI off is free and reversible

Say it however you like

Email, call, or send a portal message. Any wording works. You do not have to explain why.

We confirm in writing

The opt-out is recorded in your file and applies to Claude, MyCase AI features, and SeeB AI alike.

Nothing else changes

Same attorney, same deadlines, same fee in your engagement letter. Some tasks simply take longer.

9 · Retention

How long we keep it

Retention is set by professional duties and by the rules that govern appeals, not by convenience. Where a matter is on appeal or a court order applies, the file is kept until that ends.

Closed matter file
Kept for the period legal-ethics and malpractice rules require, and longer where a court order or appeal requires it.
Inquiry that never became a client
Kept only as long as needed to evaluate and respond, then discarded on the firm's schedule.
Calls and texts handled by SeeB AI
Retained as inquiry records alongside the matter they relate to.
Website analytics
Retained in aggregate; used to see which pages help visitors, not to profile individuals.
Payment records
Kept as long as tax and trust-accounting rules require.

10 · Security

How it is protected

Encryption

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest across the portal, case management, and AI workspaces.

Least privilege

Staff see the matters they are assigned. Access is reviewed, and the portal logs activity.

No card data

Card numbers go directly to LawPay. They never sit on firm servers or in an AI prompt.

Vendor review

A tool is connected only after its security and confidentiality terms are reviewed.

Minimum necessary

Only the excerpts a task requires are sent to an AI tool, never the whole file.

Incident response

If a breach affected your information, we notify you and the authorities as the law requires.

No system is perfectly secure, and no website can promise otherwise. What we can promise is that access is limited, monitored, and reviewed, and that we tell you if something goes wrong.

11 · Your Rights

What you can ask us to do

These rights are available to every client and to anyone who has contacted the firm, regardless of where they live. Some records must be kept even after a deletion request, and we will tell you when that applies.

Access and correction

You may ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct anything inaccurate. We respond within the timeframe the applicable rules require.

Deletion

You may ask us to delete information we are not required to keep. Records tied to a completed representation, fee disputes, or court filings may have to be retained.

Opt out of AI assistance

You may tell us to keep AI tools off your matter at any time, free of charge and without any effect on your representation. We confirm it in writing.

Limit marketing contact

You may ask us to stop sending firm updates. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Requests are made to the contact details below. We may need to verify that the person asking is the person the record concerns before we act on it.

12 · Contact & Changes

Who to ask

Privacy questions and requests go to the firm's office manager at the contact details here. Write “Privacy Request” in the subject line so it is routed correctly.

We may update this policy as tools or rules change. The effective date at the top changes with each revision, and a material change affecting client data is communicated to current clients directly.

This policy does not create rights beyond those the law already provides, and it does not limit the confidentiality an attorney owes a client.
